Bolton Wanderers have swooped to sign Wrexham defender Lewis Brunt on a four-year deal. The 25-year-old centre-half becomes Steven Schumacher's eighth signing of the summer. Brunt came through the academy at Aston Villa but played Premier League football for Leicester City before joining Wrexham in July 2024. He helped Mansfield to promotion from League Two during a loan spell and then featured regularly in Phil Parkinson's side as they went up to the Championship. Brunt has gone through the full pre-season, which means he will be ready to go straight into the squad to face Preston North End this weekend. Speaking to the club, Brunt said he was looking forward to the challenge of stabilising Wanderers in the division. 'You only have to drive past the ground and you can see the size of it all,' he said. 'I think there'll be 26-27,000 this weekend, so the size of the club is massive and that's obviously a huge pull.' League standing (final 2025 table -- new season not yet under way): 5th in League One, 75 pts, 19W-18D-9L from 46 games, recent form LDDWL. Goals this season: 70 scored, 52 conceded (+18 goal difference). Title race: 28 points behind leaders Lincoln. Brunt has gone through the full pre-season, which means he will be ready to go straight into the squad to face Preston North End this weekend. Speaking to the club, Brunt said he was looking forward to the challenge of stabilising Wanderers in the division.
