Bolton Wanderers Snap Up Wrexham Defender Lewis Brunt on a Four-Year Contract
Bolton Wanderers have raided Championship rivals Wrexham for the second time in a week to bring in defender Lewis Brunt on a four-year deal. The 25-year-old centre-half became Steven Schumacher's eighth signing of the summer after Bolton paid an undisclosed fee to bring him from the Rancecourse Ground, just 24 hours after completing a loan deal for striker Ryan Hardie.
Why Lewis Brunt is a Key Signing for Bolton Wanderers
Brunt came through the academy at Aston Villa but played Premier League football for Leicester City before joining Wrexham in July 2024. Having previously helped Mansfield to promotion from League Two during a loan spell, he then featured regularly in Phil Parkinson's side as they went up to the Championship. He only lost his place last season after a thigh injury sustained in October, which required surgery, and he returned to the squad for the final few months of the campaign.
What Comes Next for Lewis Brunt at Bolton Wanderers
Brunt has gone through the full pre-season, which means he will be ready to go straight into the squad to face Preston North End this weekend. Speaking to the club, Brunt said he was looking forward to the challenge of stabilising Wanderers in the division. 'You only have to drive past the ground and you can see the size of it all,' he said. 'I think there'll be 26-27,000 this weekend, so the size of the club is massive and that's obviously a huge pull.'
