Bolton’s Unbeaten Start Continues
Jack Bonham was the hero for Bolton Wanderers as the Hoops kept their Championship unbeaten run intact with a 0-0 draw at Loftus Road. The goalkeeper made a string of important stops, including tipping a fierce shot from Harvey Vale over the bar in the fourth minute and saving a close-range effort from Richard Kone.
Bolton were 17 shots on target, nine on target, but Bonham refused to be beaten. He denied a long-range effort from Gaizka Larrazabal, a headed chance from Kone, and a near-post shot from Jimmy Dunne that rattled the woodwork.
A Tough First Half for the Visitors
The visitors were pinned back by Bolton’s front-six movement. QPR’s Chris Forino hit a long ball to Larrazabal, who lashed an angled shot just over the bar. The match was dominated by Bolton’s defensive work, with the keeper making a crucial save at close range from Kone, assisted by Akin Famewo.
Bolton made only one change from the side that beat Preston: Lewis Brunt started for the first time since signing from Wrexham, replacing the injured Luca Stephenson. The change helped the team keep the pressure on QPR.
Second Half: Bolton’s Resilience
In the second half, QPR created several chances. Kone’s flick gave Vale a headed opportunity, but the effort was aimed at Bonham. Sam Iling-Junior, Ryan Hardie, and Kyliane Dong were brought on to restore energy, but Bolton’s defence held firm.
Bolton’s Ben Davies replaced Akin Famewo, keeping the 4-2-3-1 shape. The visitors’ attempts were met with more saves from Bonham, including a dramatic dive on a shot from Paul Smyth.
A Point Away from Home
A 0-0 result was a welcome point for Bolton at a difficult away venue. The match ended with both sides level, and the goalkeeper’s performance was praised for keeping the unbeaten streak alive.
