Bolton Wanderers manager Steven Schumacher has confirmed the club is targeting three more signings before the transfer window closes on Tuesday. The Trotters have already brought in 10 new players this summer, including forward Jayden Nelson who joined on Wednesday.

"We are not done, we've got probably three to go," Schumacher said. "It sounds a lot but it's important for us that we get a squad that is really capable of playing at this level." The manager's comments underline the club's ambition to strengthen their Championship squad after promotion last season.

Fitness boost for Famewo

In a positive update on the injury front, defender Akin Famewo is expected to be available for Saturday's match against Lincoln City. The 27-year-old was forced off at half-time during last weekend's draw at Queens Park Rangers with a minor injury.

"It's not good when one of your players has to go off at half-time but he's trained today and says he feels fine," Schumacher added. "That's a real positive for us." Famewo's return provides a timely boost for a defence preparing to face another newly-promoted side. The full schedule of upcoming fixtures is available on our fixtures list.

Bolton's busy summer of recruitment reflects the step up in competition they face in the second tier. The club's last spell in the Championship ended in 2019, and building a squad with the depth to compete is a clear priority. With the deadline fast approaching, the focus at the training ground will be split between finalising new arrivals and preparing for the weekend.

Schumacher's side host Lincoln City at the University of Bolton Stadium on Saturday in a 3pm kick-off. The match presents an early opportunity to gauge their progress against a team that also earned promotion from League One last term. The club's current position in the league table can be followed on the standings page.
