Schumacher Backs Bolton Wanderers to Handle Step-Up

Bolton Wanderers manager Steven Schumacher believes his core squad can handle the step-up to the Championship. Schumacher's team finished 5th in League One, with 75 points from 46 games, and a recent form of LDDWL.

What's the Plan?

Schumacher has stated that he expects to work with one of the smallest playing budgets in the division next season. He plans to bring in experienced players to bolster the team.

Experience Needed

The current squad has relatively little Championship experience, aside from new signing Ben Davies and veteran defender Cyrus Christie. Only goalkeeper Jack Bonham has more than 50 appearances at that level.

Schumacher has already started recruiting, with the signing of Ben Davies. He will continue to look for players with Championship experience.

Bolton Wanderers will need to balance their budget with the need for experienced players. Schumacher's experience of taking Plymouth Argyle into the Championship a few years ago has given him confidence that some talents will rise to the fore.
