Bolton Wanderers have launched a new community health partnership with the NHS aimed at improving the long-term wellbeing of local residents. The 'Stronger Together Bolton' initiative will bridge the gap between hospital treatment and ongoing community support.

The partnership, involving Bolton Wanderers in the Community and Bolton NHS Foundation Trust, will focus on helping people stay active, independent and socially connected after their clinical care ends. It will explore support for those living with chronic pain, long-term health conditions and reduced mobility.

Focus on long-term health

A key aim is to develop accessible pathways into exercise, wellbeing activities and peer support. The goal is to improve physical and mental health, reduce social isolation and help people maintain healthier lifestyles. This work could also support the NHS through better rehabilitation outcomes and preventative health measures.

Club Chairman Sharon Brittan, alongside first-team players Max Conway and Ethan Erhahon and community staff, recently visited the Bolton One facility to advance the plans. Brittan confirmed the players are already planning to attend the next meeting with hospital representatives.

Leadership praises collective effort

"Together, we are working towards launching a pilot programme in 2027 that bridges the gap between NHS treatment and long-term community support," said Sharon Brittan. She added that the club's badge has a unique power to connect with people and inspire positive change across the town.

Brittan expressed her gratitude to the players and staff involved, noting that one resident told them the visit had made her year. The initiative reflects the club's broader role in the community, which runs parallel to its on-pitch efforts. On the field, Bolton's recent form has been positive, securing 10 points from their last six Championship matches. This run has contributed to their current league position of 14th, with 13 points from 10 games, fresh from a 3-1 win at Wolves. Their next challenge is a trip to face seventh-placed Southampton, with the full fixtures schedule available online.

The partnership is a concrete example of the club using its platform for social impact, with detailed plans for the 2027 pilot now underway.
