Bolton Wanderers defender Ben Davies has hailed his move to the club as 'perfect' ahead of the new Championship season. The 31-year-old centre-half joined Wanderers on a free transfer this summer, bringing experience and know-how to Steven Schumacher's squad. Davies, who played for Rangers in Scotland and had loans at Birmingham City and Oxford United, is keen to put down roots in Lancashire and has been encouraged by the welcome he has received so far. 'Honestly, it is the perfect move for me,' he said. 'It is exactly what I wanted, a big football club, a big fanbase, Championship football.' Wanderers' last Championship game was played at Nottingham Forest on May 5, 2019, but the club has since been promoted back to the second tier. Davies is relishing the prospect of being a main man in Wanderers' Championship adventure. 'It's exciting,' he said. 'Obviously, this is a big challenge for everyone because the club has been in League One for a few years and this is a step up. We are confident that we have got enough to compete. And I am sure the fans will be getting behind us because they have been waiting for this as long as anyone.' With Wanderers currently 28 points behind leaders Lincoln in the title race, Davies is aware of the task ahead but is confident in the team's ability to compete.
