Former Bolton Wanderers defender Will Aimson has signed for Salford City. Aimson had been a free agent since his exit from Wigan Athletic.

What happened?

The 32-year-old defender penned a two-year deal at Moor Lane as Salford City aims to bounce back from their play-off final loss.

Karl Robinson has departed, and Peter Cklamovski is the new manager. Aimson told the club site, “Promotion is something that I want to achieve this season.”

Why it matters for Bolton Wanderers

Aimson spent 18 months at the Toughsheet Stadium, joining in the summer of 2021 following promotion to League One. He made 45 appearances for the Whites before heading to Exeter City in January 2023.

What comes next?

Aimson has previously been promoted out of League Two with Blackpool, Bury, and Plymouth Argyle. He will now aim to repeat those feats with Salford City, utilizing his experience and skills as a leader and athletic player. The squad is brilliant, and Aimson is looking forward to the new season. | Club | League | | --- | --- | | Salford City | League Two | | Bolton Wanderers | League One | Aimson is athletic, quick, and comfortable on the ball, making him a valuable addition to Salford City
